Waste & Cleanup

US Dumpster Size Calculator

Estimate a dumpster size for your US waste load from pile measurements or volume. See planning limits, uncertainty, and material checks.

Planning estimate: SizeSolve provides sizing estimates based on the information you enter and conservative planning assumptions. Available dumpster sizes, weight limits and accepted materials vary by provider. Confirm the final size, weight limits and material requirements with your local provider before booking.

Estimate from your measurements

Describe one waste load using a measured pile envelope or your own estimated loose volume. This planning aid does not check payload, legal requirements, supplier stock or whether objects physically fit.

Waste size calculator inputs
What is in the load?
How well do you know the whole load?
Ordinary material categories

Include every category that applies. A small amount of heavy or special material still matters.

Does it include any of these heavy materials?

Select materials you know or reasonably suspect are in the load. If the contents are uncertain, say so below.

Could special material be present?

This is a screening aid, not a complete list of waste rules. If you suspect special material, check with an appropriate waste service before handling or arranging disposal. Do not disturb material just to measure it.

How will you describe the amount?
Is the waste already loose?
Pile measurements

Measure a rectangular envelope around the pile. Irregular shapes and empty spaces can make this differ from the actual loose waste volume, and items may pack differently in a container. Use a realistic range when unsure. This is planning guidance, not a guarantee.

Planning size catalogue

These are planning sizes in the SizeSolve catalogue, based on scoped sources—not a complete list of local options. Local suppliers may offer different sizes. Supplier availability varies; confirm the size, material acceptance and loading limits locally.

How this estimate works

Pile mode multiplies the low, best and high rectangular-envelope measurements. Direct volume uses only the loose volume you provide. The engine applies its versioned planning policy to the high estimate; it does not add an unstated expansion factor.

What to check before choosing a container

Confirm local availability, material acceptance, payload and fill limits with a provider. The result cannot establish physical dimensions or special-disposal requirements for every location.
